Cypher of Fortune RECAP

23 11 2009

Hey all,

Sorry for the extremeeeely late update; just thought I should go over Saturday afternoon’s event, Cypher of Fortune, put on by WU Cypher, Wash U’s premier bboy/bgirl club. The event ran from 4-8pm and the action was non-stop! Big ups to bboy C-rex for the dope never-before battle format: Mario Party! For those of you that weren’t there, the jam was a 2v2 tournament that was randomized; not only were dancers dependent on fate to pick their partners but they also had to spin a roulette entailing some crazy rules including “no hands,” “switch shoes with opponent” and the infamous “pokemon move”. Those that embraced the rules the best won stars, which were counted up at the end; whoever had the most won a special prize separate from the $400 1st place prize.

Congrats to bboy Monki (Boogie Munstars, KCMO) and bboy Dent (Beatsick Misfits, IN) for taking the top prize (Dent also got the most stars!). Special thanks to DJ Needles for spinning as well as bboy Freedom (ENI Squadron) for judging. Props to all the bboys/bgirls that came out to rep as well as support Operation Food Search. We hope you all enjoyed the jam and look forward to next year’s event!

Thank You!

Thank you for your participation and support of the first ever Hip Hop Week at Wash U. This year we brought Bakari Kitwana, MC Serch, Jabari Asim, Lisa Fager Bediako, Joan Morgan, Nick Gates, DJ Deception, DJ Costik, Trackstar the DJ, IllPhonics, The Paxtons, and RJD2 to Wash U’s campus! We also received many boxes of canned goods and donations in support of Operation Food Search. We have already started planning next years theme and can’t wait to bring the elements of Hip Hop to campus again. We did it for Hip Hop and we will keep doing for Hip Hop. Check out the pics from this year in the HHW 09′ tab (Photos courtesy of Austin Menard, Miki Carter, Bicente Jones and Ray Prapaisilp).

12 11 2009

Yo,

Thank you all for coming out and supporting EXPRESSION EXPO 2009! The event was dope! Thanks to all the artists that came out to display their artwork and to all our sexy models strutting their stuff.

Although we had to cut their set short due to complaints from another event going on, DJ Deception & DJ Costik RIPPED IT and it was super ill while it lasted. Also, special thanks to Trackstar the DJ and The Domino Effect, we sincerely apologize about the microphones being wack; yall killed it regardless and we appreciate you guys coming out and performing for us.

Look out for pictures coming soon! And see yall tonight at the Idan Raichel Concert!
